Academic Essentials Rubric
I have taught high school English (as well as variations such as reading classes) for 23 years and written over twenty books on related themes, sharing these ideas through online resources and workshops and speeches around the country. I am still a classroom teacher, something that informs all my work and ideas as it allows me to see how real kids respond to my ideas.
My goal would be to continue to learn how to improve instructional techniques to help teachers be more effective in the areas of reading, writing, and teaching the academic essentials all kids need to not just survive but thrive in school.
Specialties: writing, presenting, designing curriculum; facilitating, collaborating, generating alternative, innovative ideas for teaching and reaching disengaged students; working across platforms or in different configurations: in person, online, in groups, alone. Seem to be especially able to take complex information and synthesize it into concise, coherent format for easy use and reference in ways that teachers find useful.
